The stunning backdrop of the majestic Himalayan mountains makes the Valley of Flowers National Park an unforgettable destination. The Valley of Flowers National Park covers an area of 87 km in Chamoli district. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It is believed that the valley was discovered by three British mountaineers, led by Frank S Smythe, in 1931. They lost their way and came across this stunning valley. They named the place after the stunning beauty of the area.”Valley of Flowers”.

Valley of Flowers, as the name implies, is a place where nature blossoms in its full glory. It offers a stunning experience. The spectacle of exotic flowers (over 600 species), such as anemones, primroses, marigolds, daisies, marigolds and primulas is breathtaking. Parts of the park are covered by sub-alpine forests, birch and Rhododendron. You will be amazed at the scenery along the trek, including waterfalls and streams. The valley is located at an elevation of approximately 3,600m above sea level. It also houses rare and remarkable wildlife species such as the Himalayan weasel and gray langur, the flying squirrel, and the Himalayan weasel, the black bear, the red Fox, the lime butterfly and the Himalayan monal.

When should you visit

You can see the best flowers in the area between May and October. This is when it turns into a botanical paradise. However, the peak flower season is July through September.
